Finalmente

Finally it's been an awesome day!!
You know it's a good day when you can walk in a downpour for 15 minutes and still feel happy.

Yesterday my host dad walked me to this place that has spinning classes. It's only 3 dollars per session so I'm going to try out my first spinning/cycling class tonight! Also my host mom made me something really close to guacamole. It was great and really lifted my spirits yesterday. They have an avocado tree in their yard but never eat the avocados because they're really watery. I told her I still wanted to try them so she made me guacamole with it....without the jalapeno unfortunately but I'm not about to complain. It was still really good...and watery but delicious none the less. Also she put avocado in my burrito this morning and that always makes me happy too. She knows.

Today I went to my Spanish class and it was really good. I started the international exchange club today! Basically all I do is talk with the same two people once a week for two hours. On Tuesdays I will always talk to this guy named Oscar. Today was my first day meeting and talking with him and it was awesome. His English is really good so it was nice to understand some things that I've been confused about. For instance:
1. I asked why Tico people never want to talk to me....and he told me they just assume that I only know English and a lot of Ticos aren't comfortable speaking English. Duh.. I should've known that. Oops

2. He was shocked about the creepy guys in the street who whistle, and hiss, and honk, it's nice to know that he thought it was strange and normal people don't do that.

3. I finally figured out what "Macha" means. That's what a lot of the people on the streets call me and it's a word specifically meant for blonde women. Apparently I'm considered blonde in Costa Rica... he didn't understand why I couldn't understand that....my hair to him is clearly blonde...but to me it's clearly not.

4. Not everyone in Costa Rica drinks and smokes. He told me that his group of friends don't drink much at all and smoke but the majority of people in Costa Rica do. I'm hoping I can meet more Ticas/Ticos that are the same way. Oh and his friends are into alternative and ska music....which is awesome.

I'm really excited to meet my second student from the club! Hopefully I can finally have some Costa Rican friends that can help me out with my Spanish.

Here are some photos from Tamarindo.... I looked at them today and realized that the beach is really beautiful...but I never even noticed when I was there due to the events of the weekend.
These were all taken around 6am... haha enjoy
